Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Sauna Questions
1) What are the benefits of using a sauna?
Many people use saunas to support relaxation and recovery. Common benefits include:
Deep relaxation and stress relief
Muscle recovery and reduced tension
Increased circulation from heat exposure
Sweating that can leave you feeling refreshed
2) How long should I stay in the sauna?
Most people feel great with 15–30 minutes in the heat, especially if they’re new. Since Sauna Fanshawe offers 30-minute and 60-minute sessions, you can start with 30 minutes and build up over time.
If you feel dizzy, overheated, or unwell, step out and cool down.
3) What should I wear in the sauna?
A towel, swimsuit, or sauna wrap is typical. Avoid heavy clothing or anything with metal (zippers/buttons) that can get hot. Comfort and respect for others are the priority.
4) Can I use the sauna every day?
Many people do. If you’re new, start with 2–3 sessions per week and see how your body responds. If you have medical concerns, check with your healthcare provider first.
5) How should I prepare for a sauna session?
Hydrate before and after
A quick rinse/shower is a good idea
Avoid heavy meals or alcohol right before your session
6) Can I bring my phone or electronics into the sauna?
It’s best not to—heat and humidity can damage electronics. It’s also a great chance to unplug and fully relax.
7) Is it safe to use a sauna during pregnancy?
If you’re pregnant, please consult your healthcare provider before using a sauna. Many providers recommend avoiding high heat due to the risk of overheating.
8) Are there any health conditions that should avoid sauna use?
If you have heart conditions, blood pressure concerns, respiratory issues, or other serious health conditions, check with a doctor before sauna use. When in doubt, play it safe.
9) Do I need to book in advance?
We recommend booking/requesting availability in advance—especially on weekends or during busy seasons—so you get your preferred time.
10) What if I feel lightheaded or unwell?
Exit the sauna right away, cool down, and drink water. If symptoms continue, seek medical advice.
11) Are there age restrictions?
Saunas are generally intended for adults. Young children should avoid sauna use due to heat intensity, and older children should only participate with close supervision and guidance.
12) Can I bring a friend or family member?
Yes—sauna time is even better shared.
Community sessions are capped at 4 people per session for comfort and space.
